Certified Respiratory Therapist - Days

The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by physicians, with emphasis on specialty areas including Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. Key duties involve monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, conducting patient assessments, and understanding hemodynamic monitoring along with blood work results.

Responsibilities

• Deliver all Respiratory Care procedures competently as outlined in the department's policy and procedure manual.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all respiratory care procedures.
• Verify physician's orders related to respiratory care.
• Report on patient information to reflect current clinical status effectively.
• Participate in department meetings, in-services, and patient care rounds.
• Monitor and assess acuity changes and report to the supervisor.
• Perform effective airway management, troubleshooting, and support for intubation.
• Assume responsibilities for educating and training new employees and students.
• Conduct arterial blood gas draws and monitor ventilator patients.
• Ensure compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety standards.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in cardiopulmonary care.
• Continuously assess patient respiratory status and recommend therapeutic interventions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a COARC accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the NBRC.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• NRP certification required within 6 months of hire.
• At least one year of respiratory experience in a hospital setting; preferred experience in pulmonary and cardiac diagnostics.

This position follows a day shift schedule.
