Perioperative Nursing - Operating Room Registered Nurse

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring an OR for a temporary assignment in Mammoth Lakes, California. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Location: Mammoth Lakes, California

Schedule: 7:00AM - 7:00PM x 3

Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension

Pay Rate: $64 - $69/hr

Responsibilities for a OR:

Carefully assess and monitor the physical status of the patient

Collect and record necessary data through patient interviews, significant other observation, review of records, review of diagnostic results, review of physician documentation, and consultation with physician and others

Utilize collected information appropriately in planning and delivering patient care

Actively listen to the patient and provide appropriate responses, while determining the patient's perception of their needs and care pertinent to the surgical procedure

Identify interventions necessary for expected outcomes based on specific surgery, illnesses, injury or disease, behavior, and O.R. standard of care

Anticipate potential problems and adapt to surgical procedures, setting priorities in emergencies, changes in patient status, and unusual occurrences

Demonstrate competency to create and maintain a sterile field

Anticipate the need for equipment and supplies before the case begins

Demonstrate knowledge of expected outcomes of surgery and anesthesia drugs

Evaluate nursing interventions in relation to established expected outcomes

Reassess patient status, identify unresolved problems, and implement revised plans of care through effective communication

Maintain State of California Registered Nurse License

Maintain current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications

Work 12-hour varied shifts (7a-7:30p), including holidays and weekends

Provide call coverage, including one call shift per week (7:30p-7a), scheduled immediately following shift

Demonstrate strong proficiency with Orthopedics (Arthrex, DePuy, Synthes), general, and ENT surgical procedures

Utilize Cerner charting system for documentation as preferred

Work effectively with patients, peers, physicians, and ancillary departments

Direct and coordinate with other departments and ancillary personnel to provide a safe environment and high standard of quality care

Supervise care given to assigned patients in a single O.R. unit, ensuring patient safety, provision of supplies and equipment, and maintaining asepsis
