Senior HVAC Technician

Maintain HVAC equipment and systems, correct problems, and perform new HVAC installations in compliance with applicable codes. Provide economical and safe HVAC service to campus. Complete work orders with priorities approved by immediate supervisor. Independently handle emergency work on weekends and holidays. Lead other HVAC technicians and trades staff with priorities approved by immediate supervisor; handle emergency work on weekends and holidays. Perform maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems. Support emergency operations and take lead with campuses’ HVAC contractors. Qualifications Knowledge of maintenance, repair, and replacement of HVAC equipment. Ability to repair and maintain a variety of equipment including air conditioning, boilers, air-handlers, fan coil units, pumps, valves, controllers (DDC & Pneumatic), motors, starters, refrigeration, and automated control systems. Ability to follow verbal instruction and work independently. Ability to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions independently. Proficient in the use of hand and electric tools and diagnostic equipment related to the trade. Ability to move/lift 50 lbs regularly. Ability to function in close quarters or cramped environments. Unrestricted valid driver’s license in good standing with a good driving record. Commercial HVAC training. Experience in energy management and mechanical systems. Experience in operation and maintenance of HVAC equipment and preventive maintenance operations. Experience in multiple automatic controls/building management computerized controls or equivalent experience or training. Additional Considerations Experience working from mechanical drawings and building blueprints. Experience in operation and maintenance of chillers, heat pumps, air handlers, and geothermal systems.
