Surgery - General Physician

ATC Locums in Newport News, Virginia is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon to provide coverage on August 3-4, 2026 while a physician is on leave. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a well-supported inpatient practice with a manageable patient census, Epic EMR, and the potential for temporary privileges to accommodate the short-notice need.

• Location: Newport News, Virginia
  
  
• Practice Setting: Inpatient, hospital-based
• Coverage Dates: August 3-4, 2026
• Schedule: Two-day assignment with call coverage
• Call: Beeper/phone call with an average of 3-4 callback hours depending on surgical volume
• Patient Population: Adult
• Patient Volume: Approximately 3-4 inpatient encounters per day
• Procedures: Bread-and-butter general surgery; no bariatric surgery or bariatric call required
• EMR: Epic
• Support: Established hospital team in a non-trauma center environment
• Credentialing: Approximately 1 month, with temporary privileges available for qualified candidates due to the urgent need

• Board Certified in General Surgery
• Active Virginia medical license
• ACLS certification
• Clean malpractice and licensure history
• Current NPDB Self-Query report (dated within 30 days of presentation)
