Assembler

Job Title Assembles designated products such as stuffing boxes, partially or completely, working at a bench or on shop floor by performing the following duties: Locates and identifies type, size and quantity of all components needed to assemble product. Assembles equipment according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints using hand and power tools and some measuring devices. Checks completed units, insuring proper alignment of parts and components and notes any need for modification. Conducts inspections to ensure proper operation of parts. Notifies management of malfunctions. Assists in trouble shooting, noting need for corrective action. Conducts hydrostatic tests as required or directed. Performs painting of finished product as needed. Uses forklift to move freight and/or inventory. Other duties as assigned. Reasoning Abilities: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, diagram, or schedule form. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to read blueprints Knowledge of shop safety practices Knowledge of quality assurance as normally acquired through in-house seminars and training. Above average skills in: Retaining Instruction. Demonstrated ability to: Progressively Assemble. General knowledge of: Mechanical applications. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and/or the ability to adjust focus. Education & Experience Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED is the minimum requirement, often supplemented by vocational or technical school training.
