Our 53-bed Emergency Department is ***equipped to*** manage a wide range ***of medical emergencies,*** with ***approximately 10%*** of cases ***related*** to trauma***.*** As part of a Level I Trauma Center, you will work alongside experienced emergency medicine providers, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality care when patients need it most. Nurses in this department gain exposure to complex emergency, trauma, cardiac, stroke, critical care, and specialty cases while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative environment. Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association **Lantern Award**, honoring **exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research**. **Education Requirements*** Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing required* BSN or MSN preferred **Certification/Licensure Requirements*** Registered Nurse license required* Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire* NIHSS, TCRN, SCRN, TNCC, CEN, PALS, and ACLS preferred **Experience Requirements*** Prior RN experience preferred* Emergency Department experience preferred* Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply **Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the region’s first Magnet** hospital, **a 525-bed medical center, a primary teaching facility, and home to the** area’s **only Level** I **Trauma Center within a 126-mile region.** **Who We’re Looking For**We are seeking RNs who thrive in a fast-paced setting, communicate effectively, demonstrate strong critical thinking, and are committed to delivering safe, patient-centered emergency care.
