Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med Surg Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active RN License Needed Certifications: BLS; NIH (can be completed during orientation) Must-Have Skills/Experience: Must have charge experience or be willing to learn and take on charge duties. Description: Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses. Establishes nursing care objectives. Defines nursing interventions. Provides physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families. Communicates information to help patients understand their conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Notes changes in patients' conditions and needs. Re-evaluates care objectives as necessary. Assures quality care by adhering to professional standards and healthcare organization policies and procedures. Maintains cooperative relationships among healthcare team members. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and procedures. Adheres to medication administration and storage procedures and controlled substance regulations. Keeps patient care records documented accurately. Protects the confidentiality of healthcare organization value by keeping information confidential. Monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients' conditions to appropriate healthcare team members. Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess and implement patient care plans. Modifies patient treatment plans based on patient responses and conditions. Monitors all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity. Provides health education and disease prevention instructions to individuals and families. Communicates the nursing care plan and pertinent information to healthcare team members. Resolves patient issues through communication and collaboration. Promotes a culture of safety by maintaining awareness of patients' safety needs. Acts as a patient advocate and voices concerns as necessary. Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories and examining patients. Documents patients' physical conditions and psychological statuses. Administers medications and wound care as needed. Prepares patients for exams and assists with them. Explains procedures, treatments, and discharge instructions to alleviate patient apprehension. Has IV therapy competency, including care for central lines. Recognizes adverse signs and symptoms and reacts quickly in emergency situations. Supervises and delegates duties to unlicensed assistive personnel and ancillary staff. Ensures compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. Performs other specified duties related to patient care and unit-specific competencies. Attends assigned nursing courses as needed.
