Logistics Coordinator Job Description Job Title: Logistics Coordinator Reports To: Shipping Manager and Operations Manager Position Summary The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the movement of materials, equipment, and finished products. This role ensures deliveries are made safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining communication between customers, vendors, production, shipping, and transportation providers. Key Responsibilities Schedule inbound and outbound shipments. Coordinate truck deliveries and pickups. Work with production to ensure material is ready for shipment. Monitor shipment status and resolve transportation issues. Communicate delivery schedules with customers and project managers. Prepare shipping documentation, including: Bills of Lading (BOLs) Packing lists Shipping manifests Freight paperwork Coordinate oversized and specialized freight. Manage freight carriers and negotiate shipping rates when appropriate. Track inventory movement and update ERP systems. Ensure DOT and transportation compliance requirements are met. Investigate shipping discrepancies, damages, or delays. Maintain transportation records and shipment logs. Coordinate with purchasing for incoming materials. Support warehouse and yard operations as needed. Analyze freight costs and identify opportunities for savings. Assist with scheduling cranes, escorts, permits, and special delivery requirements.
