Position OverviewThe Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a key healthcare professional responsible for overseeing and directing nursing care within the cath lab and interventional radiology departments. A proactive and enthusiastic approach is essential to contribute to the success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities and ExpectationsCore Duties and Performance Metrics (% of time)
1) Assessment (20%)Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments for new admissions or transfers upon arrival to the PACU.
- Accurately document patient assessments.
- Provide timely ongoing reassessments and document relevant observations.
Responsibilities:
- Identify patient care needs based on initial assessment data, diagnoses, and physician orders.
- Develop nursing interventions aimed at achieving desired patient outcomes.
- Create and initiate individualized care plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate daily care plans for assigned patients.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and document patient care in collaboration with other disciplines.
- Provide patient education and discharge planning, accurately recorded on the PACU flow sheet.
- Review and implement physician orders promptly and accurately.
- Recognize changes in patient conditions and take appropriate nursing actions.
- Follow medication and parenteral therapy administration protocols as per policy.
- Perform blood draws for lab specimens, including blood cultures.
- Notify anesthesia and surgical physicians of significant patient condition changes.
- Assist physicians with procedures and examinations related to patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Document the effectiveness of nursing care and adjust care plans as patients progress.
- Evaluate and document the effectiveness of patient education, including understanding levels.
- Modify care plans as necessary based on evaluations.
- Assess pain management effectiveness and take appropriate nursing actions.
Responsibilities:
- Engage in continuous learning to enhance professional skills, including committee participation and mandatory training.
- Arrive at work as scheduled and begin duties promptly.
- Serve as a resource for colleagues, patients, families, and medical staff.
- Identify issues, gather relevant data, propose solutions, and communicate effectively for problem resolution.
- Oversee care provided by Care Partners.
- Incorporate customer service standards into patient care and work practices.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to universal precautions and dispose of hazardous materials according to guidelines.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Report risk management concerns promptly.
- Complete all annual mandatory training requirements.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver prompt, respectful, and courteous service to all patients and families.
- Address patient needs promptly and apologize for any delays.
- Communicate effectively while maintaining confidentiality.
- Provide accurate reports and quality care in line with established standards.
- Utilize resources efficiently and recommend practices that enhance efficiency.

- Assist in developing unit-based performance improvement plans.
- Collect performance improvement data as assigned.
- Participate in discussions regarding performance improvement outcomes.
- Collaborate in creating and implementing action plans.
- Engage in research activities within the nursing unit.

- Infant
- Child
- Adolescent
- Adult
- Geriatric
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development relevant to the age of patients served.
- Assess and interpret age-specific data to identify patient needs.
- Utilize communication skills to address age-specific responses.
- Involve family members in decision-making regarding care.
Responsibilities:
- Implement alternatives to restraint before application and monitor patient responses.
- Assess and manage pain effectively, incorporating cultural and spiritual beliefs.
- Recognize and report signs of potential abuse or neglect.

Job SpecificationsMinimum Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.
Minimum Experience: One year of medical-surgical experience is required; critical care or post-anesthesia care experience is preferred.
Required Course: Advanced Life Support (ALS)
Working Conditions- Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

- May require irregular hours and handling multiple demands.

- Ability to lift, position, push, and transfer patients.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and pull up to 100 pounds.
- Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
