Registered Nurse (RN) - Pre Procedure Phase II Full-Time, Days Location: Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), ground floor adjacent to OR and PACU. Shift: No call, weekend rotation. Leave: 1 major, 1 minor holiday. Position Overview Under the direct supervision of the ASU Nurse Manager, the Pre-Admission Nurse performs the following responsibilities: Assessment with the patient prior to admission via phone interview or in person. Collects patients' medical history from previous medical records. Work closely with the anesthesia department to coordinate patients' needs. Perform direct patient care activities for all age groups. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients in accordance with the established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care. Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care, maintain professional accountability for patient care, evaluate overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers, coordinate patient care with other departments, maintain patient rights and confidentiality, and perform duties consistent with Mercy mission and values. Qualifications Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current RN license in the state of practice. Minimum of 2 years of RN experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – American Heart Association. Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
