The Senior Coordinator, Basic Needs System Intake leads and manages the intake and triage process for all students referred to the districtwide Basic Needs system. Reporting to the Manager, Basic Needs System & Intake, this role ensures timely, accurate, and student-centered access to critical support services. The Senior Coordinator evaluates student needs assessments, consults on complex cases, and collaborates closely with internal and external partners-including Advocacy, Mental Health Counseling, and Student Accessibility Services-to deliver holistic, coordinated care. Additionally, this position drives continuous improvement by monitoring intake trends, optimizing process efficiencies, and refining the overarching intake framework to better serve the student population.

Job Description:
Supervision Received and Exercised Operates under the direct supervision of the department manager or designated supervisor. While the role does not typically include formal supervisory responsibilities, the Senior Coordinator may oversee limited hourly staff, including interns and temporary employees, and coordinate schedules. They may provide guidance to junior staff or new hires as part of onboarding and training processes. The position is expected to work independently on routine tasks while seeking direction for more complex assignments. Competency Expectations- Project Coordination: Autonomously organizes and manages activities within programmatic areas, ensuring all elements align with project and departmental goals.
- Project Planning: Leads development of comprehensive project plans for small to medium-sized initiatives, showing attention to detail and effective time management.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Demonstrates strong coordination skills by effectively engaging with college personnel and external partners, including industry stakeholders, to achieve project objectives.
- Operational Support: Oversees coordination of special, innovative departmental initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to organizational efficiency.
- Leadership and Training: Shows proficiency in training, coaching, and directing assigned personnel, adhering to organizational policies and employment laws to foster a collaborative work environment.
Description of Duties and Tasks
- Lead the coordination, management, and continuous refinement of the centralized intake, survey workflows, and triage process to ensure an efficient and high-quality student experience for all students referred to the Basic Needs System, with timely, accurate, and student-centered access to services.
- Oversee the evaluation, prioritization, and routing of incoming referrals, ensure high-risk or urgent student situations are escalated swiftly according to established safety protocols.
- Manage ongoing follow-up activities to ensure no student is overlooked and connections to departments such as Advocacy, Mental Health Counseling, Student Accessibility Services, and other student support services are completed in a timely manner.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for students, departments, and community partners regarding the intake and needs assessment process, ensuring delivery is student-centered, trauma-informed, and reduces barriers to access.
- Collaborate closely with internal networks including the CARE Network and Behavioral Intervention Team, and external partners to consult on complex student cases and implement holistic support strategies to ensure alignment and follow-through on identified needs.
- Coordinate cross-departmental communication and alignment with faculty, campus staff, and external stakeholders to expand the reach and visibility of available support resources.
- Supervise temporary employees or student workers; provide training and support for referral processing, task assignment, and performance check-ins to maintain consistent quality service delivery.
- Track, analyze, and maintain accurate, confidential system records to identify emerging student trends, resource and service gaps, and continuous improvement opportunities within the Basic Needs area in accordance with institutional policies.
- Develop comprehensive reports and training resources for leadership, faculty, and staff to highlight key outcomes and strengthen overall student engagement.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Four (4) years of related experience, or an Associate's degree with two (2) years of related experience may be substituted for the required education (plus the required experience noted below).
Preferred Education:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
Experience:
- Three (3) years of related work experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Work experience in student services, needs assessment coordination, or support services.
Special Requirements:
- State licensure as a clinical social worker (e.g., LCSW, LICSW, LMSW).
- Eligibility to supervise MSW interns (per state licensing board requirements).
- Bilingual or multilingual (especially Spanish or other locally spoken languages) is preferred.
- Familiarity with public assistance programs (e.g., SNAP, housing assistance) is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to lift objects up to 20 pounds.
