Director, Pharmacy - Pharmacy - Full Time 8 Hour Rotating Shift (Exempt) (Non-Union)

Role Summary The Pharmacy Director is responsible for the operation of Pharmacy Services, including strategic planning, day-to-day operations, pharmaceutical care, clinical and distributive services, financial management, and personnel management. The Director also oversees the Pharmacy Ambulatory Infusion Service, ensuring efficient and high-quality care. Responsibilities Determine department objectives; plan, organize, and direct general pharmacy policies and procedures. Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and processes that promote safe, efficient, and cost-effective medication use in compliance with regulatory standards, the Board of Pharmacy, and federal and state agencies. Communicate, interpret, and discuss hospital and departmental policies and procedures with staff. Establish rapport with physicians and other providers, engaging them in decisions to improve efficiency and quality of service/care. Incorporate lean methodologies and tools to enhance pharmacy operations. Establish and maintain strict control and accountability for all medications stored in the hospital and dispensed or administered to patients. Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Interview, select, and supervise department staff, setting job objectives, work methods, and performance standards. Provide orientation, training, and continuing education for staff. Complete administrative duties including signing documents, preparing reports, performing performance appraisals, and managing other employee-related actions promptly. Ensure quality outcomes through performance-improvement activities supporting departmental and hospital annual goals. Direct all aspects of monthly financial data, analyze end-of-month drug utilization and purchasing information. Develop and monitor department budgets daily, with working knowledge of all expenditures. Oversee pharmacy billing, including charge capture. Actively participate in interdisciplinary committees, meetings, and functions as required. Coordinate and integrate department services on intra‑departmental, inter‑departmental, and hospital-wide levels. Ensure all operations within the position’s scope are carried out ethically and responsibly. Promote personal professional growth through educational programs, literature, meetings, and workshops. Maintain knowledge of scope of practice to ensure safe patient care within laws and regulations. Accept and complete extra duties upon request in a timely and high‑quality manner. Perform all other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college of pharmacy and licensure as a registered pharmacist in the State of California. Completion of a pharmacy residency program and an advanced degree program (Pharm.D., M.S., M.B.A., or Ph.D.). 5–7 years of progressive pharmacy management experience in a Home Infusion service line. Demonstrated ability to manage people and time effectively. Strong organization and time‑management skills. Effective, appropriate, and diplomatic oral and written communication skills. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, planning, and evaluation skills. Ability to work effectively with physicians, staff, and patients. Leadership and guidance skills. Commitment to excellence in patient care and customer service. Strong working knowledge of home infusion pharmacy (including third‑party plans), all state and federal regulations governing pharmacy practice, standard pharmacy financial and business principles, and business development. Demonstrated ability to create and implement policies and procedures. Required Licenses / Certifications Registered Pharmacist (CA DCA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and renewed before expiration (required within LA City only).
