Job Description

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician supports hospital pharmacy operations through medication preparation, distribution, inventory management, and equipment maintenance. This role ensures accuracy and efficiency in medication handling and contributes to patient safety and service excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Fill medication orders accurately and promptly for dispensing, including preparing extemporaneous preparations.
• Manage inventory by restocking shelves, replenishing carts, and checking medication expiration dates.
• Handle distribution and return requests via phone, fax, and computer, ensuring proper transfer and documentation.
• Prepare sterile IV medications aseptically, adhering to safety protocols and verifying batch levels.
• Operate and troubleshoot automated dispensing machines, including restocking, resolving issues, and conducting monthly inspections.
• Repackage medications, verify barcoding, check expiration dates, and manage recalls and safe disposal.

Qualifications:

• Possess a minimum of 2 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Omnicell and EPIC systems.
• Hold a current active registration with the State of New Jersey Board of Pharmacy.
• Preferably certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
• Exhibit strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a team-oriented approach.
