Pharmacy Technician

Location: Morristown, NJ 07960
Pay Rate: $26.00/hour
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, typically 7:00 AM–3:00 PM and/or 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
Job Type: Full-Time

Pharmacy Technician – Highlights

• Work in a hospital pharmacy environment supporting medication distribution and patient care.
• Utilize Omnicell automated dispensing systems and Epic .
• Opportunity to work with sterile preparations, medication inventory, automated dispensing, and pharmacy distribution.
• Candidates must have Omnicell and Epic experience .

Pharmacy Technician – Responsibilities

• Fill medication orders accurately and promptly for pharmacist verification and dispensing.
• Prepare extemporaneous medications and routinely stock pharmacy areas.
• Replenish carts, trays, boxes, and medication kits.
• Handle medication distribution requests received by phone, window, fax, and computer.
• Deliver medications through pneumatic tube systems, hand delivery, and courier services.
• Sort and process medication returns from nursing stations.
• Prepare IV medications using aseptic technique under appropriate supervision.
• Support sterile preparation processes, including IV batching, documentation, and medication storage.
• Fill and maintain Omnicell automated dispensing machines .
• Resolve stock-outs, failed drawers, discrepancy reports, and equipment-related issues.
• Remove expired medications and complete required documentation.
• Repackage oral medications and ensure products are properly bar-coded and labeled.
• Monitor medication expiration dates and assist with recalls and inventory control.
• Maintain accurate pharmacy documentation and follow established procedures.
• Provide professional customer service to patients, coworkers, pharmacists, and healthcare professionals.
• Support departmental workflow, teamwork, performance improvement, and cost-saving initiatives.

Pharmacy Technician – Requirements

• Pharmacy Technician experience in a hospital or healthcare pharmacy environment.
• Required: Omnicell experience.
• Required: Epic experience.
• Ability to accurately prepare, distribute, stock, and inventory medications.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Ability to follow medication safety procedures and established pharmacy protocols.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work 8-hour shifts, including 7:00 AM–3:00 PM and/or 3:00 PM–11:00 PM .

Pharmacy Technician – Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with sterile IV preparation.
• Experience with hazardous drug handling and safe preparation procedures.
• Experience with automated medication dispensing systems.
• Experience with pharmacy inventory control and medication repackaging.
• Hospital pharmacy experience.
• Familiarity with TPN, IV equipment, medication reconciliation, and automated dispensing workflows.
