Pharmacy Technician

Work as needed during facility hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Assist pharmacists in filling prescription orders as permitted by State Boards of Pharmacy Perform IV compounding Prepare medication for dispensing, packaging and shipment Take inventory, place orders, check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves and remove out of date items Enter medical supply orders in the pharmacy system Handle doctor calls, faxes and medication deliveries Communicate with patients, clinics, care-givers and physicians in an amicable and professional manner Process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction Input patient data and prescription information into the pharmacy information management system Maintain knowledge of and abide by applicable pharmacy laws and regulations Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy Ensure orders are reviewed by a registered pharmacist and record activity in compliance with regulatory and company guidelines Perform other duties as assigned Requirements National pharmacy technician certification (PTCB) Required High school degree or equivalent preferred In-patient hospital pharmacy experience highly preferred Flexibility in working schedule Ability to work well in a team Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong customer service skills Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks Ability to manage several tasks at the same time; ability to focus on tasks; ability to evaluate operating conditions; ability to exercise sound judgment Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds Ability to bend, reach, stoop, lift and stand for entire shift Vendor Credentialing may be required Maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in pharmacy operations, including IV compounding, medication dispensing, and inventory management, while ensuring compliance with pharmacy laws and regulations.
