Food Service Associate Roving – Food Services (Multiple Positions) Starting Date: Aug 31, 2026 Work Schedule: 4 hours per day minimum, varying schedule assigned daily. Applicants must be available daily between 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. for 184 days per year (Monday‑Friday). Reports To: Building Principal and/or District Food Service Manager. Position Summary: Assist with preparation and serving of nutritious meals in a pleasant, efficient, and effective manner. Responsibilities include culinary prep, cashiering, daily record keeping and deposits, dishwashing, cleanup, heavy lifting up to 35 lbs, safety and sanitation, and compliance with district policies. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in food preparation preferred. Must have math skills at grade 12 level. Valid Washington State Health card (maintained for duration of employment). ServSafe certification desired. Excellent attendance and work record. Experience with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity preferred. Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance. Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later). I‑9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act. Completion of all district‑required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date. Citizenship, residency or work visa required. Essential Job Functions Prepare foods with efficiency for kitchen and ship‑out kitchens (e.g., wrap burgers, pre‑package salads). Operate kitchen equipment (e.g., mixer, dishwasher, oven, steam table, heating cart). Work independently. Lift up to 35 pounds in various containers. Serve as cashier in any designated area. Read recipes and understand standard weights and measurements. Serve proper portions of food. Assist in daily cleanup of kitchen and service areas. Maintain sanitary conditions at all times. Practice safety habits at all times. Assist with daily record keeping and deposits as assigned. Store leftover food properly. Maintain proper storage of food items. Provide backup assistance for kitchen manager. Order food for outside locations. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of school policies and procedures affecting this position. Fill in for absent employees in similar or higher classifications as needed. Maintain knowledge of Snohomish County and Washington State food safety, sanitation, and temperature requirements. Set up and disassemble serve line(s). Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours. Interact professionally with students, staff, and the public. Comply with all district policies and procedures. Perform related duties as assigned. Desired Skills Assist students and parents with account activity. Correctly lift heavy objects up to 35 pounds. Work quickly and independently; establish and maintain relationships with students, staff, and coworkers. Sell and make change quickly. Get along well with others while working at a fast pace. Take initiative to seek out work needing completion. Work Environment Kitchen environment with frequent interruptions and unexpected changes (menu, equipment, personnel). Requires physical strength, ability to operate equipment, and lifting up to 35 lbs. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, and hot/cold environments (walk‑in freezer, stoves, ovens). Maintain safety habits and sanitary conditions at all times. Evaluation The employee will be evaluated periodically by the Building Principal and/or District Food Service Manager pursuant to district procedures and criteria, focusing on performance of the essential job functions.
