Structural Engineer

The Axel Group is seeking a Structural Engineer to join an established and growing engineering team focused on structural steel support systems and specialized construction solutions. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a variety of commercial, industrial, healthcare, and manufacturing projects, with an emphasis on the design and analysis of steel structures, equipment supports, and prefabricated systems.

The ideal candidate will have a background in structural engineering, strong analytical skills, and an interest in developing practical, innovative engineering solutions. Candidates with 2+ years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus but is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for steel framing, equipment supports, pipe racks, and modular structural systems.
• Prepare structural calculations, design drawings, and technical documentation for commercial and industrial projects.
• Analyze structural loads, connections, anchorage systems, and material specifications to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant designs.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, fabrication, and project management teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review engineering plans, shop drawings, and project specifications for accuracy, feasibility, and constructability.
• Develop customized structural support solutions based on project-specific requirements and field conditions.
• Utilize structural analysis and design software to evaluate, develop, and validate engineering solutions.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, engineers, and other project stakeholders to address technical challenges and resolve design issues.
• Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, industry standards, and project specifications.
• Provide engineering support during fabrication, installation, and construction as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of structural engineering or related design experience.
• Experience with structural steel design, load calculations, and connection analysis preferred.
• Familiarity with applicable building codes and industry standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, and AISC.
• Experience with structural engineering software such as RISA-3D, STAAD.Pro, RAM, or similar platforms preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or comparable engineering design software; Revit experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize responsibilities, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is beneficial but not required.
