Development Officer

Development Officer Claremont McKenna College (CMC) seeks a Development Officer to cultivate donor relationships and support the strategic priorities of the Office of Advancement. Location Claremont, CA Responsibilities Support the Vice President for Advancement in developing and managing donor pipelines aligned with the College’s fundraising priorities. Qualify donor prospects in associated pipelines, coordinating with the Research and Relationship Management Team to ensure appropriate gift officer assignments. Collaborate with leadership giving officers to highlight pipeline prospects within their portfolios and report outcomes to the Office of the Vice President. Serve as lead project manager for restricted fundraising initiatives, as directed by the Acting Head of Advancement and AVP. Partner with key offices in Advancement and across campus to develop strategic prospect plans and execute solicitations. Plan and project‑manage fundraising events, both on and off campus, in conjunction with Development and Engagement teams. Implement event leverage strategies, ensuring top prospects and pipeline targets receive individualized communication about upcoming events. Develop and execute follow‑up methods to increase engagement, qualification meetings, and giving from constituents. Identify and implement technology resources (e.g., Almabase) to scale donor outreach. Develop and implement strategies for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, closing, and stewarding donor prospects in an approximately 50‑prospect portfolio. Solicit a wide range of gifts from annual amounts up to $100,000, supporting annual gift solicitation for prospective donors. Maintain prospect tracking and regularly update the College’s records for each assigned constituent. Support and staff College evening and weekend events and activities as assigned. Perform additional essential duties as assigned by the Office of the Vice President for Advancement. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience. Three or more years of successful fundraising experience, including the solicitation of mid‑level gifts. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills; ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team. Valid driver’s license or acceptable alternative transportation. Knowledge and skills relevant to the role, with the ability to demonstrate or explain how essential functions will be performed. Hours & Salary Regular hours: 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend and evening work may be required. Salary range: $90,000–$100,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
