Maintenance Coordinator

The impact you will have: As a Maintenance Coordinator, you will plan, coordinate, and oversee semi-skilled and skilled maintenance services across San José Unified’s 45 work locations. You will manage the work of district maintenance personnel and outside contractors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with San José Unified’s standards and procedures. This role provides oversight of electrical and low-voltage maintenance and supports district-wide repair, improvement, and preventive maintenance programs. As a Maintenance Coordinator you will be assisting with the managing and (not limited to) Planning, coordinating, and overseeing maintenance and repair activities across all district facilities. Supervising and supporting maintenance personnel and contractors, ensuring work meets safety, quality, and scheduling expectations. Overseeing electrical and low-voltage systems, including maintenance, repair, installation, and compliance with applicable codes. Developing and managing preventive maintenance programs to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime. Reviewing, prioritizing, and assigning work orders while tracking completion and quality through the maintenance management system. Coordinating with site administrators, Facilities staff, and external vendors to plan and schedule maintenance and improvement projects. Monitoring budgets, materials, and resources, ensuring cost-effective and timely project execution. Inspecting work sites and completed projects to verify compliance with district standards, codes, and regulations. Maintaining detailed records and reports of work performed, expenditures, and project timelines. Leading or participating in district projects and programs that enhance safety, sustainability, and operational excellence. What you need for this position: Completion of 12th grade or equivalent California driver's license Forklift certification Resume and Letter of introduction outlining desire and qualifications for this position Roles Available: Maintenance Department 1.0 FTE 40hrs./ week 12 Months 6:30AM - 3:30 PM ( 1 hour Lunch ) SB 848 Child Safety & Employment Disclosure Requirement Effective January 1, 2026, in accordance with California Senate Bill 848 (School Employee Misconduct/Child Abuse Prevention Act), applicants for employment with San José Unified are subject to enhanced child safety, training, and employment disclosure requirements.
