Duties
The duties of this position include:
- Providing guidance and assistance on various health care policies and programs.
- Advising in matters pertaining to the administrative management of medical programs.
- Maintaining day-to-day contact with the State Surgeon's Office and functioning as the full-time liaison with the NGB Office of the Army Surgeon.
- Interpreting regulations and directives and establishing a state health system program for AGR personnel.
- Providing policy guidance to unit commanders concerning medical screening and evaluation for AGR personnel.
- Coordinating medical actions and waivers with the MPMO/State Surgeon/NGB.
- Providing technical advice and analysis for AGR personnel being processed for medical evaluation boards.
- Referring AGR personnel with specific medical problems to appropriate specialists for treatment.
- Administering the Army Drug Abuse Prevention Control Program (ADAPCP), if applicable.
- Analyzing information to determine the most efficient and economical means of medical treatment available.
- Reviewing and analyzing physical examinations to determine if AGR personnel have taken the appropriate physical.
- Establishing and maintaining a program for HIV testing and drug screening for all AGR personnel.
- Establishing and maintaining a cardiovascular screening program.
- Scheduling appointments and processing AGR personnel for initial screening through bypass surgery, if necessary.
- Establishing and maintaining a program for the civilian medical/dental treatment of AGR personnel.
- Monitoring and preparing medical budget information for submission to state PBAC.
- Serving as the full-time health systems representative on all AGR Medical Department (AMEDD) related matters.
- Functioning as a key assistant to the Military Personnel Management Specialist (MPMS) in administering the AGR medical program.
- Serving as the primary point of contact between AGR personnel and the MTF, MEDDAC, NGB, and civilian sources of care.
- Assisting AGR family members in requesting medical treatment or establishing entitlement/eligibility.
- Serving as a Health Benefits Advisor (HBA) upon completion of appropriate training.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
