You will serve as a DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN in the BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY of NAV POSTGRADUATE DENTAL SCHOOL.

Duties

Help

• You will be responsible to operate and maintain the laboratory porcelain ovens, vacuum investing equipment, burnout ovens, centrifugal metal casting machines, CAD computers, milling machines, 3D printers and related fixed Prosthodontic lab equipment.
• You will design and fabricate complex fixed and removable prostheses (including implant prostheses) demonstrating mastery of both traditional and Computer-Aided-Design (CAD)/Computer-Aided-Manufacturing (CAM) methods.
• You will design and present highly technical, advanced dental laboratory technique courses to technicians and prosthodontic resident dental officers.
• You will serve as the fixed prosthodontics technical expert, technician and instructor.
• You will plan and organize work schedule and production deadlines for the Fixed Prosthodontics Section.

• Certification in Digital Workflows is highly desired.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Experience using dental laboratory materials such as impression materials, plasters, stones, hydrocolloids, waxes, metals, acrylics, porcelain, and similar materials.
• Experience utilizing laboratory equipment such as hand tools, dental lathes, engines, and hand pieces, furnaces, casting machines, presses, flasks, and related equipment.
• Experience using precision instruments such as articulators, surveyors, and microanalyzers
• Experience constructing dental prosthetic appliances.
• Experience utilizing dental CAD/CAM software and hardware to design and fabricate complex restorations.

Must be a Certified Dental Technician in Fixed Prosthetics. A copy of your CDT in Fixed Prosthetics is required.

Education

Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:

Two and a half full years of graduate education

OR

A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of specialized experience.
