Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients aged 5–18 on an inpatient behavioral health unit experiencing acute crises.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, monitor safety, perform suicide risk screening, and implement de-escalation techniques; document in the electronic medical record.
- Administer prescribed psychotropic medications, monitor responses, adverse effects, and medication reconciliation as ordered.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans; participate in rounds, handoffs, and family education.
- Support patient engagement in activities therapy, mindfulness, wellness, and coping skills groups; document progress and assist with care coordination.
- Maintain a safe environment, respond to behavioral crises, and coordinate with psychiatry, social work, therapy, and unit leadership; coordinate transfers and discharge planning as needed.

Requirements
- Current New York State RN license
- Minimum 2 years pediatric mental health experience
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- CPI blue card preferred
- Telemetry knowledge/experience is a plus
- Experience in a large academic medical center preferred
