Plans, evaluates, coordinates, and performs installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication networkWork in developing technical expertise in all areas of voice and data networks hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as switches, routers, firewalls, authentication servers, encryptors etc.Work with network management software platforms.May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings aligning with future requirements factoring in redundancy and required network uptime.Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions, technical diagrams, and other documentation. Where no documentation exists, assist in developing documentation.Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance for network equipment or with vendors for third-party support.Willingness and availability to work outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends) as needed.Must be able to work with general supervision and follow established procedures.You will apply your Network Engineering skills to defense-oriented programs.Obtain Certifications in Security+ within 6 months and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is highly desired within a year.Qualifications YOU Must Have: Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree.U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.Experience in configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and/or intrusion detection systems, including software upgrades.Active, In-Scope and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
