Business Development Executive - Medical Laboratory Location: Portland, OR Interpath Lab is looking for a Business Development Executive (BDE) to grow relationships in the Portland area. The BDE is primarily responsible for sales growth within a defined territory and call points, including women’s health, oncology, pathology, pain management, behavioral health, hospitals and other clinical labs that require anatomical pathology services. This role is integral to developing and implementing national sales campaigns and sales strategies within the territory. It requires significant sales proficiency, account management, technical knowledge, and domain expertise, along with specific clinical and anatomical lab experience. Responsibilities Consistently achieve or exceed sales goals and performance metrics. Maintain in‑depth knowledge of clinical labs to engage in a consultative sales approach. Represent Interpath Laboratory with professionalism and ethical conduct. Serve as a strategic, analytical thinker and critical problem solver. Develop and execute a strategic territory business plan to gain market share and meet sales goals. Maintain a valid driver’s license and approval by the company insurance provider for vehicle use. Attend regional or national sales meetings as needed. Adhere to all company policies and serve as a role model of professionalism. Attend and pass all required product and sales training courses. Attend work regularly. Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of progressive experience in anatomical and clinical laboratory sales. Demonstrated success in closing large, complex deals with enterprise‑level clients such as healthcare systems, FQHCs, and behavioral health providers. Strong understanding of clinical laboratory operations, payer dynamics, and regulatory environments. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels, including the C‑suite. Proficiency in CRM platforms (e.g., HC1, Salesforce) and data‑driven sales management. Ability to travel regularly within a multi‑state territory (OR, WA, ID), including occasional overnight travel. General Physical Requirements Sales professionals must be able to repeatedly enter and exit their assigned vehicle and sit in it while driving for up to two hours nonstop. They must also be able to load and unload the vehicle with frequent bending, drive in all types of conditions including built‑up areas, freeway, and rural traffic, during hours of darkness and inclement weather, and occasionally kneel, bend, and stoop for vehicle inspections. OSHA Category This position involves minimal exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues. Employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis‑B vaccination series, but it is optional for this role.
