Job Description

The Marcus Autism Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is conducting a search for an outstanding child and adolescent psychiatrist with specialization in the field of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to provide clinical care, research support, and clinical training in Atlanta, Georgia. This position offers the opportunity to provide exceptional multidisciplinary clinical care, support innovative research, and contribute to clinical education and training within one of the nation's leading autism centers. Marcus Autism Center is among the largest and most comprehensive centers in the country dedicated to the clinical care of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. Each year, the Center serves more than 5,000 unique children and families through a broad range of diagnostic and treatment programs. The Marcus Autism Center is part of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, one of the largest pediatric healthcare systems in the United States. The child and adolescent psychiatrist will primarily provide outpatient clinical care for children and adolescents with ASD and related neurodevelopmental conditions. The role also offers opportunities to engage in research initiatives, supervise nurse practitioners and medical support personnel, and participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows. The Marcus Autism Center is committed to delivering patient-centered, comprehensive care and seeks a provider who demonstrates excellence in individualized, patient-focused medical treatment. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills and work effectively with professionals across psychology, social work, applied behavior analysis, and nursing.

Responsibilities

• Clinical care includes psychiatric evaluation, comprehensive medical treatment, oversight of case management for patients, leadership of clinical teams, and supervision of trainees and nurse practitioners.
• Participation in a model of care that is organized according to the needs of children and families and is seamlessly coordinated with internal and community-based professionals comprising the relevant constellation of services across the specialties of psychiatry, psychology, social work, and other disciplines.
• Demonstrate a pattern of excellence in clinical care.
• Education of medical students, residents, and fellows interested in child and adolescent psychiatry during usual conduct of care.
• Participation at team conferences and meetings with contribution to quality improvement initiatives and clinical program development.

Experience

• No minimum experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in respective clinical area.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school.
• Graduate of an accredited, post-graduate residency program in Psychiatry.
• Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Certification Summary

• Board Certified/ Board Eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
• BLS or PALS certification required.
• Current DEA registration.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member.
• Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.

Job Responsibilities

• Provides patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children's policies and procedures.
• Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
• Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
• Educate and assist trainees with medical decision making.
• Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
• Completes necessary documentation and ensures timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
• Actively responds to patient and clinical staff questions and requests.
• Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
• Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete, and maintain certification in BLS, PALS, or NALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
• Performs other responsibilities as required.
