Job Description Behavioral and mental health is a rapidly growing service line that serves patients across Children’s Hospital Emergency Departments, hospitals, and outpatient clinics, including the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Zalik Behavioral and Mental Health Center, announced in 2022. Opened in 2023, the Zalik Center provides a balance of prevention and outpatient treatment services. It serves as a central location for nearly 80 transdisciplinary Children’s providers and community partners. In 2024, Children’s announced a transformational $10 million gift from Michele and David Hirsch to support a transdisciplinary program for children with complex neuropsychiatric conditions. In 2025, the outpatient team completed nearly 40,000 appointments and cared for more than 5,000 new patients with a primary behavioral and mental health diagnosis. Plan, implement, and evaluate the provision of high-quality medical care, with appropriate resource management, to children and adolescents in the respective clinical area. Experience No minimum Experience Required. Preferred Qualifications Experience in respective clinical area. Education Graduate of an accredited, four‑year medical school. Graduate of an accredited, post‑graduate residency program in Psychiatry. Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Certification Summary Board Certified / Board Eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia. BLS or PALS certification required. Current DEA registration. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member. Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff. Demonstrates skills in personal organization, time management, human relations, teamwork, adaptability, motivation, and listening. Job Responsibilities Provides patient care within the respective clinical area following Professional Staff Bylaws, rules, regulations, and Children’s policies and procedures. Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice. Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education. Educates and assists trainees with medical decision making. Documents all physician services rendered and maintains accurate records. Completes necessary documentation and ensures timely communication to facilitate patient care and reimbursement. Actively responds to patient and staff questions and requests. Participates in meetings and activities required to support clinical operations. Maintains certifications in BLS, PALS, or NALS and other required specialty training/certifications. Performs other responsibilities as required.
