New Process & Technology (NPT) Coatings Engineer Location: East Hartford, CT; Middletown, NY; Asheville, NC (primary location). Up to 25% travel may be required. Security requirements: U.S. citizenship required. Must obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. Role type: Onsite. What You Will Do Lead high visibility projects related to critical business needs, new part designs and HSE performance demands. Deploy new material coatings, ensuring manufacturing readiness for production. Champion cross-site alignment and provide technical guidance and best practices. Drive automation initiatives to reduce cost, improve throughput, and address ergonomic concerns. Improve or develop new process capabilities to achieve design intent and reduce production risks. Mentor other Manufacturing Engineers in the coatings discipline. Generate business cases for new projects, ensuring proper onboarding aligned to business needs and resource allocation. Execute proof of concept for new technologies and processes. Develop process and technology solutions including part programming, tool and fixture design, and capital equipment specifications. Test and validate process and technology changes. Incorporate new processes across the manufacturing center. Generate work instructions and SOPs and provide training to end users. Collaborate with NPI team to align technology and process roadmaps. Provide technical input and peer review to engineering designs and changes. Develop detailed project plans, test plans, resource plans, and documentation. Lead stakeholder meetings and report project status to management and customers. Establish metrics for yield, cost, cycle time, capacity, safety, and delivery; monitor and implement improvements. Identify, investigate, and implement new technology to address business goals. Lead initiatives to advance Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) and support hardware production for Technology Readiness Level demonstrations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related field. 8+ years in aerospace manufacturing experience. 5+ years with advanced degree. Experience in production environment and coatings knowledge preferred. Project management experience or certification, or advanced business degree. Experience in new technology and process development and successful transition to production. Manufacturing Readiness Level experience. Knowledge of quality and process improvement tools such as Six Sigma and Lean. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings including Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Ability to independently create fixtures, tools, programs needed to manufacture a part, including operating the machine. Strong organization, oral and written communication skills. Ability to foster strong interpersonal relationships and influence. Ability to lead small teams to deliver outstanding results and overcome challenges. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a production environment. Coatings knowledge or experience. Project management experience/certification or advanced business degree. New technology and process development experience and successful transition to production. Manufacturing Readiness Level experience. Working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean. Benefits Salary range: 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD.
