Construction Materials Testing Technician, Level I

General Description As a Technician, Level I you will assist in the performance of routine construction monitoring, field and/or laboratory tests. You will prepare and transport samples and reports, and perform non-technical functions and office tasks under close supervision of higher level technicians or supervisors. Essential Tasks Assist with sampling or testing of soils, concrete, asphalt and other materials as directed. Support field and/or laboratory personnel as needed to complete tasks. Transport equipment, specimens or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provide physical assistance in equipment set-up. Maintain a clean work area. Assist other technicians or professional staff on routine tasks. Retain information shown and explained to you so that you may become a self‑sufficient employee and continue to grow with the company. Support the company’s quality policies and procedures; maintain the quality of your work and the company’s standards with each task performed. Adhere to the company’s safety policies and procedures and encourage improvement by participating in near‑miss and safety audit programs. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications No experience necessary. Ability to lift 10–60 lbs. and work outside for extended periods of time. Capacity to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to obtain relevant certifications (ACI, TXDOT, NICET, or other); certifications are paid by the company. High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license. Ability to pass a drug test, background check and fit‑for‑duty test. Willingness to work weekends or nights as required by client schedules.
