Job Title CARE Coordinator Summary The (Community Assistance, Resources, and Empowerment) C.A.R.E. Coordinator, Basic Needs & Advocacy plays a key role in supporting and coordinating services that help students meet their essential needs, including access to food, housing, transportation, mental health, and emergency financial support. The coordinator serves as a connector across departments and external agencies, manages outreach and intake processes, and ensures timely referrals and tracking of support services. Responsibilities Serve as the initial point of contact for students seeking basic needs resources. Conduct intake assessments to understand student needs and connect them with appropriate services. Provide case coordination and follow‑up to ensure continuity of care and service delivery, including advocacy with campus and community partners to address barriers to student success. Make informed recommendations for emergency funding support based on student need, eligibility, and available resources. Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with FERPA and institutional policy. Coordinate logistics for programs such as food pantries, emergency housing programs, and resource fairs. Support the management and distribution of emergency aid and gift cards, and assist in the tracking and inventory of supplies and donations. Maintain systems for tracking service usage, referrals, and outcomes (e.g., database, case‑management software). Generate reports and data summaries to support program assessment and improvement. Help design and distribute outreach materials (flyers, emails, social media posts). Conduct presentations or workshops for students, staff, and faculty about available basic needs resources. Participate in campus‑wide efforts to raise awareness about student basic needs and destigmatize help‑seeking. Develop outreach strategies that are culturally responsive and reduce stigma around accessing basic needs support. Collaborate with campus departments such as Financial Aid, Health Services, Counseling, and Student Life. Coordinate with community organizations and social service agencies for off‑campus referrals. Attend relevant meetings and training to stay current on resources and best practices. Competency Expectations Coordinate activities within programmatic area and/or department. Create, maintain, and execute detailed plans for small‑to‑medium‑sized activities, initiatives, and/or projects. Coordinate college personnel (possibly including outside personnel or industry partners) to support the planning, delivery, and execution of programs; coordinate schedules, hourly staff, materials, and participant documentation to ensure smooth operations and successful outcomes. Support essential operational coordination for the department. May be expected to train, coach, direct, and coordinate assigned personnel while adhering to organizational human‑resource policies and procedures, as well as related employment laws. Job Requirements Knowledge of administrative procedures, principles, and practices. Ability to organize and plan using standard office software applications. Experience with learning management systems and web‑learning tools. Event planning and management skills. Understanding of the services and functions of educational institutions. Familiarity with issues related to college student success and barriers such as food/housing insecurity. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including tact and diplomacy. Organizational, managerial, and event‑planning skills with attention to detail and follow‑through. Confidentiality and ethical compliance with college policies and regulations. Proactive problem‑solving and initiative. Exceptional phone, email, written, and oral communication skills. Experience with case‑management or referral‑tracking systems. Knowledge of public assistance programs (e.g., SNAP, housing assistance). Experience in a higher‑education setting, particularly with underserved student populations. Understanding of Clery Act reporting responsibilities. Education and Experience Minimum: Bachelor’s degree. Four (4) years of related work experience or an Associate’s degree plus two (2) years of related work experience may be substituted for the required education. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Education, or related field. Minimum experience: 1 year of related experience. Preferred experience: Working in student services, social services, or related support roles. Preferred language skills: Bilingual or multilingual (especially Spanish or other locally spoken languages). Preferred: Familiarity with public assistance programs and higher‑education setting experience with underserved populations. Optional: Master’s degree or four (4) years of related experience may satisfy the minimum education requirements. Physical Demands and Work Environment Standard office environment. Position follows ACC’s Remote/In‑Person framework.
