BONE DENSITOMETRY TECHNOLOGIST (DEXA) / CMA

Job Description Job Description Bay West Endocrinology is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented bone density technologist to join our team. If you have the background in this field and a passion for patient care, we want to hear from you. This position is managed and supported by the Clinical Manager and all DEXA report interpretations are the responsibility of a licensed Endocrinologist. The bone density technologist will operate and maintain the densitometry equipment to produce quality images which will ensure optimal diagnostic quality and patient care. On the job training is available. Job Duties include but not limited to: * Review radiology requests and verifies correct exam orders. * Perform routine diagnostic radiological procedures/services as appropriate to the position * Adheres to radiation safety policies and procedures in accordance with radiology safety policies and procedures. * Send appropriate image series to the endocrinologist for reading according to practice protocol. * Correctly position the patient for the examination and make technical adjustments necessary for the required examination. Determine if any special patient preparation is required. * Analyze bone densitometry study for proper alignment and make adjustments or repeat study as needed. * Process digital images and submit for interpretation by endocrinologist according to practice protocol. * Perform system calibrations (daily) and quality control tasks according to the manufacturer policy (perform periodic precision study to determine least significant difference as requested). * Recognize artifacts and equipment errors and notify designated personnel of outlying values. * Order, log and inventory osteoporosis medication and administration. * Perform additional duties under the direction of the Clinical Manager including finger sticks, point of care testing, blood pressure measurements, biopsy prep / assistance, and overall general support in the clinical department * Perform additional related administrative duties for the department as assigned Education / Training / Knowledge requirements: * High school Diploma or equivalent * 1 year of DEXA scanning and/or 3+ years working as a medical assistant * Preferred Certification: CDT, CBDT or documented ISCD Quality Bone Densitometry Course, CMA * A working knowledge of computer applications and software: (Preferred) MS Office Suite, Excel, Athena EMR and prior authorization platforms * Must be US Citizen * Must have reliable transportation to and from work site Schedule: Monday - Friday: 7:30a - 4:00p or 8:00a - 4:30p (30 minute lunch break) Job Type: Full-time Expected hours: 40 hrs. per week Company Description Bay West Endocrinology Associates PA is a proud member of Privia Medical Group.
