Wire Manufacturing Supervisor

Overview Wire Manufacturing Supervisor Pay Rate: $25 to $27 per hour Position Summary: The Wire Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the wire manufacturing department, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role combines hands-on technical expertise in CNC wire forming and manufacturing processes with strong leadership, training, and supervisory responsibilities. The Wire Supervisor oversees personnel, equipment, workflow, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting production goals related to Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Safety. The Supervisor ensures daily production goals are met through effective resource allocation, workflow organization, safety enforcement, and quality oversight. This position partners closely with Operations, Production Engineering, and Support Functions to drive improvements in efficiency, cost, delivery, and product quality. Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision Supervise, coach, and motivate wire department employees to ensure productivity, quality, and safety standards are met. Lead by example while enforcing company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines consistently. Coordinate staffing, work schedules, priorities, and resource allocation to meet departmental and shift goals. Participate in hiring decisions, performance evaluations, training plans, and disciplinary actions in coordination with Human Resources. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Technical & Operational Responsibilities Oversee the setup, programming, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC wire forming, bending, and related machinery. Establish and adjust machine controls including speed, feed, depth, angles, and tool paths to ensure conformance with specifications. Validate CNC programs, tooling, and processes; make parameter adjustments as needed for efficiency and quality. Ensure proper installation, calibration, testing, and maintenance of machine tooling and equipment. Monitor machine operation for malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and take corrective action. Inspect raw materials, in-process work, and finished components to verify compliance with drawings and specifications using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools. Training & Development Train, mentor, and cross-train operators and technicians on equipment operation, safety procedures, quality standards, and best practices. Develop technical competencies within the team, including CNC operation, blueprint reading, measurement, and problem-solving skills. Support onboarding and continuous skill development for both new and existing employees. Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement Lead efficient daily operations with a strong focus on Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Safety (QDCS). Identify production bottlenecks, quality issues, safety risks, and inefficiencies; drive corrective actions and improvements. Partner with Production Engineering and support teams to improve processes, layouts, material flow, and equipment performance. Facilitate and support LEAN, continuous improvement, and process optimization initiatives. Ensure accurate reporting of production, quality, safety, efficiency, and performance metrics. Administrative & System Responsibilities Review and manage work orders, drawings, and production documentation. Utilize ERP systems, drawing/model viewers, Microsoft Office, and machine control software effectively. Maintain time and attendance records and assist with departmental reporting requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Position Qualifications Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills. Proven hands-on experience with CNC wire forming/manufacturing equipment and processes. Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and specifications (metric and standard). Strong mathematical, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, interrupt-driven manufacturing environment. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Self-driven with strong ownership, accountability, and decision-making abilities. Ability to collaborate across departments and functions. Mechanically inclined with the ability to use hand tools and perform basic equipment adjustments. Ability to lift 30–50 lbs. Must have reliable transportation. Requirements Proficient in Microsoft Office and drawing/model viewer software (e.g., eDrawing). Completion of pre-employment background check and drug screening. Willingness and ability to work overtime as required. Beneficial Skills Bilingual (preferred). Understanding of 3-D planes. Experience with resistance welding, wire or metal bending, and wire straightening. LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement experience. Familiarity with OSHA and workplace safety requirements. Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and make actionable recommendations.
