Temporary Staff Accountant

• Onsite in Lincolnshire, IL
• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (30-minute lunch break)
• $25.00 - $30.00/hour , depending on experience (Potential flexibility for highly qualified candidates.)

Our client is seeking a Temporary Staff Accountant to provide critical accounting support during an employee leave of absence. This position offers the opportunity to contribute across a wide range of accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, account reconciliations, fixed assets, inventory analysis, and tax support.


The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments while assisting management with financial reporting and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Maintain financial records and ensure the integrity and accuracy of accounting data.
• Support annual tax reporting requirements.
• Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights to management.
• Assist with account analysis and various accounting projects as needed.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

• Prepare sales and inventory analysis reports to support business operations.
• Update, monitor, and report on departmental budgets.
• Provide timely ad hoc reporting and financial analysis to support management decision-making.
• Leverage available tools and technology to analyze data, identify trends, and support process improvements.
• Recommend operational efficiencies and improvements through financial analysis.

Inventory & Fixed Asset Management

• Support inventory management by:
  • Maintaining cost files.
  • Assisting with inventory controls.
  • Maintaining cycle count reporting.
  • Managing physical inventory exemption requests.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and months on hand.
  • Participating in monthly inventory review meetings.
• Assist with capital expenditure requests.
• Manage and maintain fixed asset records and related accounting activities.

Team Support & Business Partnership

• Assist employees and department leaders in understanding the financial impact of business decisions.
• Help communicate key business drivers and financial concepts to improve organizational financial awareness.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, management, and other departments to support business objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 1-4 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles.
• Experience with:
  • General ledger accounting
  • Journal entries
  • Account reconciliations
  • Financial reporting
  • Fixed assets
  • Sales and use tax
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
