In this position...
The Technical Documentation Engineer owns the creation control and governance of technical quality documentation across the Ford Energy Quality organization. Rigorous documentation is the backbone of audit-readiness certification maintenance and organizational knowledge retention this role ensures that DFMEA/PFMEA records test reports RCA documentation and quality process standards are consistent traceable current and instantly retrievable when needed for an audit certification review or internal investigation.

What youll do...

• Documentation Standards & Governance
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation standards and templates for quality processes test reports and engineering records.
  • Establish document numbering classification and metadata conventions to ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Partner with engineering and quality teams to standardize templates for DFMEA/PFMEA test reports and RCA records and ensure alignment between all documents.
• Document Control & Change Management
  • Manage document control processes including revision history approval workflows and archival in coordination with the PLM Engineer.
  • Administer document review and approval cycles ensuring appropriate stakeholder sign-off before release.
  • Maintain obsolescence/retirement processes for superseded documentation.
    

Youll have...

• Bachelors degree in Engineering Technical Writing or related field.
• 5 years of experience with document control systems and technical writing in a regulated engineering environment.
• Strong attention to detail and process discipline.

Even better you may have...

• Experience with document control in a certified quality management system (ISO 9001 IATF 16949 or similar).
• Familiarity with PLM-integrated document control workflows.
• Experience supporting external audits (customer regulatory or certification body) in a documentation-lead capacity.
• Document control software (SharePoint MasterControl Windchill DCM)

  • Progression toward Senior Documentation/Quality Systems Engineer Quality Systems Program Lead or Supervisor Quality Assurance.
• Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • This role is primarily performed in an office laboratory manufacturing or supplier environment depending on program needs.
  • Occasional work in high-voltage or industrial environments may be required with appropriate training and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to support testing supplier manufacturing or customer activities.

  • This position is based in Dearborn Michigan.
  • Travel may be required to support supplier manufacturing laboratory and customer activities.

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74300-$124500.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86600-$144900.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99100-$166200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidates skills and experience and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.

Internal applicants: moving into this role may result in an adjustment to your current compensation based on the posted pay range for this role taking into consideration your qualifications and other relevant factors.
