Registered Nurse - Wound Care

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides specialized wound, ostomy, and continence care to medically complex patients in an acute care setting. Works independently within scope and collaborates with medical staff to deliver comprehensive care and education.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' wound, skin integrity, and continence status to identify care needs.
• Develop and implement personalized wound care plans aimed at promoting healing and preventing complications.
• Serve as a resource for wound, ostomy, and continence management for patients, families, and healthcare staff.
• Conduct rounds on patients with wounds or skin integrity issues to monitor progress and adjust treatments accordingly.
• Educate patients and families on wound care procedures, management strategies, and home care instructions.
• Collaborate with physicians and nursing team to ensure up-to-date wound care practices and documentation.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Demonstrate relevant clinical nursing experience, especially in wound care management.
• Maintain BLS certification, required from an approved vendor.
• Wound care certification preferred, with a plan to obtain within a specified timeframe.
• Exhibit strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
