Heavy Equipment Operator

About this role


We are hiring an experienced heavy equipment operator based in Gay, GA to run bulldozers and excavators on civil construction projects across Georgia, the Florida panhandle and Alabama. This role focuses on safe, productive machine operation with strong GPS machine-control skills. You will work on site-prep, grading and excavation tasks, operate multiple machine types as needed, and follow site-specific safety procedures. Travel to regional projects is regular - expect multi-day assignments across nearby states.


What you'll do

• Operate bulldozers and excavators safely and efficiently for site prep, grading, trenching and finish work
• Run additional equipment as needed (grader, loader, skid steer, dump truck) to support project tasks
• Use GPS machine control and rovers to set and verify grades and maintain tolerances
• Perform daily equipment inspections, routine maintenance and report defects
• Follow site safety plans, complete site-specific orientation, and maintain clear communication with supervisors
• Travel to job sites across Georgia, the Florida panhandle and Alabama and perform multi-day assignments when required

What we're looking for

• Proven experience operating bulldozers and excavators on civil construction sites
• Hands-on experience with GPS machine control systems and GPS rovers
• Ability to operate graders, loaders, skid steers and dump trucks as job needs dictate
• Basic heavy equipment maintenance and pre-shift inspection skills
• Comfortable with regular travel and multi-day job site assignments across GA, FL panhandle and AL
• Commitment to safe work practices and following site-specific safety procedures

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred if assigned to haul/dump truck duties
• Experience with GPS machine control systems (required)
• OSHA 10-hour construction safety card or equivalent preferred
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
• English required; Spanish a plus
