TxDOT's Fort Worth District is looking for a Transportation Maintenance Technician I or II located at 2540 Edgecliff Road, Fort Worth, TX 76133. Salary Grade: A16 / $40,918 - $61,130 for TMT I and Salary Grade: A17 / $42,976 - $64,469 for TMT II. Anticipated Starting Salary: TMT - I, $4263.00; TMT - II, $4470.00 per month. Pay Basis: Yearly FLSA Status: Nonexempt.

Position Description: Performs routine transportation operations or maintenance support work such as: roadway maintenance and repair; light and heavy equipment operation; preventive and minor maintenance on equipment; traffic control; and helping the public during emergency situations. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.

A Day in the Life - Transportation Maintenance Tech I: Setup temporary traffic control. Maintenance and/or material and process inspection. Maintain drainage systems, dig and clean ditches and repair culverts, inlets and erosion. Clear debris, maintain wooded areas, clear brush, mow grass and spray roadside vegetation. Repair guardrails, concrete barriers, roadway delineators, milepost markers and fences. Helping the public during emergency situations. Work requires contact with private entities. Other duties as assigned. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.

A Day in the Life - Transportation Maintenance Tech II (additional duties): Operate a variety of equipment and perform manual labor to repair roadway surfaces and shoulders. Assists in inspecting traffic control devices and their placement at construction project sites for compliance with specifications for devices; safety laws, rules, regulations and the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Light and heavy equipment operation requiring a Class "A" CDL.

Minimum Qualifications: Education: No education required. Experience for Transportation Maintenance Tech I: NONE (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Experience for Transportation Maintenance Tech II: 1 YEAR transportation engineering support, roadway maintenance, construction inspection, heavy equipment operation, or related work experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Related technical training or education from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license at the time of application. This position requires driving a state vehicle. Must have a Commercial Class "A" Driver's License with an "N" Endorsement or have obtained a CDL "A" License with "N" Endorsement, within 120 calendar days from date of employment. Mandatory: Safety Impact Certificate.

Required to work weekends and holidays. Required to work hours other than 8 to 5. Required to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions. Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements. Must pass a drug test prior to employment for safety impact positions. This is a Safety Impact position and will be subject to random drug testing. Must be able to report for duty within 60 minutes of notification on a 24-hour basis to respond to emergency situations.
