Fire Protection Sales/Service Technician

FIRE PROTECTION SALES/SERVICE TECHNICIAN State Systems, a leader in fire protection, is seeking a highly motivated individual for the Memphis, TN area to sell, service, and install fire protection systems. The role involves independent sales work, customer interactions, and hands‑on technical service. Responsibilities Sells services and products within an assigned territory, maintaining sales/service quota and following established guidelines. Identifies prospects using creative lead generation techniques. Presents sales presentations and proposals, highlighting product and service advantages versus the competition. Inspects, services, and installs fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, and exit/emergency lighting. Processes work orders and completes paperwork per approved procedures. Core Competencies Proficient with Windows software and MS Office 2000 or higher. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Ability to multi‑task and prioritize. Good organizational skills. Valid driver's license and a good driving record that meets company requirements. Strong analytical and mechanical aptitude. Strong communication, negotiating, and time management skills. Flexible, perseverant, action‑oriented, interpersonal savvy. Problem‑solving aptitude and a consultative, customer‑focused sales approach. Ability to work a full‑time schedule and be available for travel, nights, and weekends as needed. Ambitious, results‑oriented individuals with entrepreneurial drive. Physical Requirements & Exposures Must be in good physical condition with no limitations. Willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather. Capable of lifting a minimum of 75 pounds and carrying 50 pounds repeatedly. Capable of pushing or pulling greater than 100 pounds as needed. Ability to safely climb a ladder and reach a height of at least 12 ft. Constant (5‑8 hrs/shift) standing, walking, handling items, and eye/hand/foot coordination. Frequently (2‑5 hrs/shift) lifting, carrying, repetitive motions, noise exposure, and grasping items. Occasionally (up to 2 hrs/shift) sitting, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, balancing, reaching, crouching, and weather exposure. May require handling chemicals that may be skin or respiratory irritants. Must not be sensitive to these materials and environments. MSDS are available. Compensation Commission‑based packages rewarding hard work. First‑year potential earnings: $40,000–$60,000, with top performers earning more in subsequent years. Candidates must live in Memphis, TN or surrounding areas. Successful candidates must complete an employment background investigation and drug screening.
