Business Development Manager

Position Summary
The Business Development Manager drives new business growth by generating qualified sales opportunities, managing the sales pipeline, coordinating marketing initiatives and industry events, onboarding new clients, and delivering exceptional customer experience.
This individual serves as a key ambassador for CIBA Solutions by identifying opportunities, engaging prospective clients, coordinating marketing efforts, and helping customers realize long-term value from CIBA's consulting services and technology solutions.
This role works closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to support strategic growth initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Business Development, Prospecting & Pipeline Management
Develop and execute strategies that generate qualified sales opportunities and convert prospects into long-term clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate third-party lead generation partners and monitor lead quality.
- Develop outbound prospecting campaigns.
- Manage in-bound sales inquiries and qualified leads.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
- Research prospective retailers, manufacturers, distributors, and service providers.
- Identify key decision makers and buying influences.
- Schedule discovery meetings.
- Coordinate client communications.
- Support proposal development and sales presentations.
- Design and scope preliminary research or reporting projects for prospective clients.
- Maintain CRM records, sales forecasts, and pipeline reporting.
- Continuously improve outreach messaging and sales effectiveness.
2. Marketing & Brand Development
Increase awareness of CIBA Solutions and strengthen the company's reputation as an industry leader.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate outbound marketing campaigns focused on business development.
- Manage social media channels.
- Support website content updates.
- Coordinate email marketing campaigns.
- Assist with webinars and podcasts.
- Create customer success stories and case studies.
- Develop marketing materials that generate qualified leads.
- Track campaign performance and recommend improvements.
3. Trade Shows, Conferences & Industry Events
Coordinate CIBA's participation in industry events to maximize lead generation and brand exposure.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Manage event coordination and registrations.
- Coordinate executive schedules and client meetings.
- Develop event-specific prospect lists.
- Schedule appointments before conferences.
- Support presentations and demonstrations.
- Execute post-event follow-up campaigns.
- Measure event ROI and lead conversion.
4. Client Onboarding & Customer Success
Deliver an exceptional customer experience from initial engagement through long-term partnership.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate customer onboarding.
- Manage implementation timelines.
- Coordinate initial research and reporting projects with CIBA analysts.
- Schedule client training sessions.
- Conduct quarterly customer business reviews and project scorecards.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and account health.
- Identify adoption opportunities for CIBA consulting services and the inSITE® platform.
- Resolve issues proactively to improve customer retention.
- Identify expansion and cross-selling opportunities.
5. Strategic Projects & Executive Support
Provide flexible support across the organization as business needs evolve.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Support software demonstrations.
- Assist with proposal preparation.
- Coordinate client presentations.
- Manage strategic initiatives assigned by executive leadership.
- Support project coordination across departments.
- Help solve high-priority business challenges.
- Ensure timely execution of key business initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of experience in:
- Business development
- B2B sales
- Customer success
- Account management
- Experience selling professional services or SaaS solutions.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Excellent presentation and negotiation abilities.
- Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
Preferred
- Experience working within the retail or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.
- Understanding of retail reporting, POS analytics, syndicated data, and category management.
- Experience with retail reporting platforms (such as Circana, retailer POS systems, or similar).
- Experience working with Target or other national retailers.
- Category Management Association (CMA) certification or related experience.
- Experience supporting consulting organizations or analytics businesses.
