From ideation to production, you will work with a diverse and experienced team of design engineers to support aerospace industry leaders and spearhead technological advances in transport decarbonization. Job Description As a Motor Test Technician within the Nidec Aerospace business unit you will play a crucial role in supporting our engineering team in the technical design, evaluation, and testing phases of new product development of electronic motor controls. The technician will build, set up, and support motor functional and performance tests to support engineering validation and design qualification of electric motors. You will also support activities to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment in the Nidec integration labs. Responsibilities Disassemble generators, motors, pumps, drivers, and all connected components. Prepare test setups, conduct electrical, environmental, performance, and agency tests, and document results. Assemble screened cables, ensuring that appropriate shielding and insulation methods are applied according to industry standards. Perform electro‑mechanical assembly tasks, integrating electrical and mechanical components seamlessly. Ensure all electrical lab work adheres to safety regulations and meets company quality standards while working in a high‑voltage lab (range from +5 VDC to 1000 VDC and up to 600 VAC). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent two‑year course. +3 years’ experience working in power distribution labs or aerospace testing labs, with hands‑on skills in assembly, modification, repair, and testing of electric motors and drivers. Knowledge of and ability to use lab equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies/battery emulators, data loggers, spectrum analyzers, environmental chambers, and thermocouples. Experienced working in HV environments with adherence to health and safety standards (OSHA 29 CFR 1910, NR 10, BS EN 50110‑1). Familiarity with harnesses/soldering standards such as IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, J‑STD‑001, IEC 62271, and/or UL 891. Familiarity with CAD tools to interpret and follow engineering drawings for mechanical assemblies. Ability to understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and related drawings.
