We are looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Clerk to join a team in Bakersfield, California. This position focuses on maintaining accurate billing and payment activity, supporting timely collections, and ensuring customer accounts remain current and well documented. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment in resolving account issues, and the ability to communicate effectively with both customers and internal partners.
Responsibilities:
• Record incoming customer payments from multiple payment methods and apply funds accurately to the correct accounts
• Prepare and send invoices, account statements, and billing summaries to support timely customer payment
• Monitor outstanding balances, review aging activity, and contact customers regarding overdue receivables
• Investigate billing concerns and payment variances, then work toward prompt and accurate resolution
• Maintain complete and current customer account information within receivables records
• Reconcile account activity and process adjustments when discrepancies are identified
• Assist with month-end activities by compiling receivables reports and supporting the accounting team
• Coordinate with customers, sales personnel, and internal departments to address billing-related questions professionally
• Support cash application tasks, deposit documentation, and related receivables recordkeeping
• Follow established company policies and internal controls in all accounts receivable activities
• At least 3 years of experience in accounts receivable or a closely related accounting support role• Hands-on experience with commercial collections and follow-up on past-due accounts
• Working knowledge of cash applications, payment posting, and billing processes
• Ability to reconcile customer accounts and identify discrepancies with accuracy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer and internal interactions
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Proficiency with standard accounting systems and Microsoft Office, particularly spreadsheet tools
