This role contributes to all phases of product design, including initial requirements definition, conceptualization, feasibility assessment/demonstration, detailed design including engineering analysis and testing; verification testing and documentation, and transfer to the client (or manufacturing) and follow-on support as needed. You will work on projects that typically involve teams from multiple disciplines: mechanical, electrical, software, systems, industrial design, and human factors.ResponsibilitiesDevelop mechanical products, subsystems, and/or componentsParticipate in shaping the product design through upfront brainstorming and concept generation, as well as defining the functional needs, system requirements, and verification methodsApply creative thought and state-of-the-art technology to solve technical design problems throughout the entire development processCollaborate with technicians and/or do hands-on assembly and testing work in the labWork with Project Management and task leads to complete tasks within budget and scheduleGenerate design, development, and support documentation following QS/ISO processes and proceduresCommunicate results and progress to project leadership using written and oral communicationKey QualificationsStrong organizational and time management skillsStrong interpersonal communication and presentation skills (verbal, written, and visual)Creative problem solving and analytical skillsMotivated team player experienced working in diverse teamsAbility to conduct technical activities with minimal directionInitiative-taker and mindset for continuous learningRequired Experience:Bachelor's degree in an engineering field; three years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience in conceptualizing design requirements and being able to transform requirements into a feasible design based on both verbal and visual information under moderate supervisionProficiency in SolidWorks CADFamiliarity with manufacturing techniques e.g. plastic part design, machined parts, sheet metal, packaging of electronics/cables, etc., for products such as automotive, consumer, and medical devicesPreferred QualificationsFamiliarity with PDM or PTC Windchill vaultsPlastic injection molding and plastic part designHands on general lab skills e.g. building and testing prototypesFamiliarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5Travel Requirements: Limited travel up to 10% annuallyCitizenship: U.S. Citizen or Existing Work AuthorizationSecurity clearances: NoneBenefitsBalance life through a compressed work schedule : Most of our team follows a flexible, compressed work schedule that allows for every other Friday off—giving you a dedicated day to accomplish things in your personal life without using vacation time.Enjoy enhanced work flexibility, including a hybrid arrangement: You have options for where and when you work.
