Health Information Specialist Company: UChicago Medicine Location: Chicago, IL Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $22.00–$29.00 per hour UChicago Medicine is seeking a detail-oriented Health Information Specialist to support the accurate management, processing, and maintenance of patient health information. This position works with clinical and administrative teams to help ensure records are complete, accurate, secure, and handled according to applicable privacy requirements. Key Responsibilities Process and maintain patient health information and medical records. Review records for completeness and accuracy. Retrieve, organize, and distribute authorized medical information. Enter and update information in electronic health record systems. Respond to requests for medical records and related documentation. Verify patient information and maintain data accuracy. Follow HIPAA and organizational privacy and confidentiality standards. Communicate with clinical, administrative, and medical records teams. Assist with audits, record requests, and documentation projects. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; additional health information training preferred. Previous medical records, healthcare administration, or health information experience preferred. Strong computer and data-entry skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information professionally. Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health records is preferred.
