PUBLIC DEFENDER'S OFFICE, 3RD CIRCUIT- ASSISTANT PUBLIC DEFENDER - 21009812 Date: May 14, 2026 Position: Assistant Public Defender - Attorney Location: Live Oak, Florida Job Summary: Provides felony trial defense representation in the Third Circuit courts, operating from the Suwannee County office and supporting other counties within the circuit. Responsibilities: Represent clients in felony criminal proceedings as a criminal defense attorney. Prepare and file pleadings, conduct investigations, and appear in court. Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and court personnel. Work under pressure while maintaining professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness. Maintain a high standard of ethical practice in accordance with Florida Bar rules. Collaborate with seasoned trial lawyers and the assistant public defender team. Receive a starting salary of $75,000 for Florida Bar members, commensurate with experience. Qualifications: Member in good standing with the Florida Bar or scheduled to sit the Florida Bar exam. Valid Florida driver’s license. Strong communication skills and ability to perform under pressure. Prior experience in criminal defense (preferred).
