School-Based Physical Therapist - Van Nuys, California

Job Description

Degree in Physical Therapy, active Physical Therapist license and 1+ year of Physical Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a difference for students across all grade levels as a contract physical therapist in a dynamic school environment near Van Nuys, CA. This part-time, itinerant role provides the unique opportunity to work with a diverse K-12 caseload, supporting mobility, functional independence, and access to educational activities for 20–23 students district-wide.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
• Current California Physical Therapist license in good standing
• Previous experience in school settings strongly preferred
• Ability to manage an itinerant schedule and travel between school sites
• Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and families
• Strong understanding of goal-oriented, individualized therapy and documentation for IEPs
• Commitment to multicultural sensitivity in service delivery

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver physical therapy services to students from kindergarten through 12th grade across district campuses
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans tailored to students’ educational needs
• Collaborate closely with special education teams, teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success
• Conduct assessments and contribute to multidisciplinary IEP meetings with recommendations and progress updates
• Maintain detailed documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students
