Senior Electrical Engineering Specialist

STV’s New York, NY office is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineering Specialist with 10 years of experience for our Buildings Division in a hybrid office setting. Successful candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) from an accredited university. The ideal candidate will have successfully completed multiple MEP projects, serving as the responsible engineer and demonstrating skills in developing design documents, specifications/report writing, and other electrical engineering tasks. Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, energy and load calculation software is a plus. Strong computer skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills are required. Key Responsibilities As the electrical lead, the candidate will develop proposals and budget estimates, design and post‑design electrical systems for facilities projects, and provide design services to public agencies and private corporations. Projects include public transit terminals, transportation maintenance facilities, municipal buildings, light commercial projects, and other public and private facilities. The role also involves mentoring and supervising electrical engineers, supporting design work in Revit and AutoCAD, and assisting other electrical staff as needed. Day To Day Work Duties Supervise and develop electrical designs using Revit and/or AutoCAD for electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm systems. Design MV (15 kV) and LV (480 V/208 V/120 V) electrical power distribution systems. Perform power studies: short‑circuit, OCPD coordination, and arc‑flash hazard analysis using the SKM software package. Prepare engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet the contracted scope of work. Ensure application of electrical engineering principles and design guidelines. Provide construction observation, inspection, and field support, including answering RFIs, reviewing and approving equipment submittals, and recording existing conditions. Mentor electrical engineers under supervision and assist other engineering staff as needed. Develop cost estimates for the electrical scope and create project plans and schedules. Obtain a basic understanding of other trades such as architectural, mechanical, civil, and structural. Support the business development process through input into technical and fee proposals; meet, present, and interview with potential clients. Minimum Job Requirements Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). Experience: 10 years of relevant experience as an electrical engineer. PE license preferred but not required. Strong knowledge of codes such as NEC, NFPA, IBC, Life Safety Code, etc. Strong time‑management skills and meticulous attention to detail. Adaptable, agile, and responsive to quick changes in direction. Ability to establish rapport and credibility with clients and stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership, and teamwork capabilities. Demonstrated initiative and capacity to work independently under pressure to meet deadlines efficiently.
