Overview

The Senior IT Project Manager plays a critical role in bridging the gap between business strategy and technical execution for enterprise-level internal applications. Operating much like a Product Owner, this position exists to drive the successful rollout, enhancement, and integration of essential corporate systems across HR, Legal, Finance, and Sales. By deeply understanding business logic and technical requirements, this role ensures internal end-user applications are seamlessly supported, heavily adopted, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Summary

This hybrid role focuses on the tactical and functional lifecycle of internal application management, requiring a project manager who naturally operates in the "weeds" of the software to map data, define business logic, and navigate technical SDLC hurdles. The ideal candidate will have strong job tenure, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a proven ability to translate complex functional requirements into actionable technical roadmaps. Success in this position requires a hands-on problem solver who can drive continuous improvement for internal systems while closely collaborating with technical teams and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

Manage multiple small, medium, and large-sized projects within the business application and infrastructure spaces.

Initiate projects by evaluating business problems, defining solution goals with key stakeholders, and creating holistic project charters.

Develop and manage end-to-end, highly detailed project schedules complete with task dependencies, milestones, and resource assignments.

Lead the creation of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and strictly manage project scope and budget throughout the lifecycle to mitigate variance.

Plan, organize, and orchestrate comprehensive testing activities, actively overseeing test execution and defect management.

Identify project risks, perform ongoing risk analysis, and proactively apply appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

Lead change impact analysis and manage the Change Control Board (CCB) process to drive informed project decisions.

Create and execute comprehensive implementation plans, managing user go-live activities, training, and corporate communications.

Distribute regular project status updates, tailoring communication styles and technical details for diverse audiences up to the C-suite level.

Perform complex "what-if" scenarios on scope, schedule, and budget to evaluate project impacts and rationally minimize costs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.

7+ years of direct IT Project Management experience encompassing all aspects of project planning and execution.

5+ years of hands-on experience utilizing IT Project Management software such as JIRA and MS Project.

Extensive experience managing end-user applications (not implementation projects) within environments utilizing MS Office, Workday (HCM/Financials), Salesforce, Dynamics 360, ServiceNow, Concur, or ERPs (Oracle/SAP).

Subject matter expertise managing application projects tailored for HR, Legal, Finance, Sales, or Professional Services is highly preferred.

Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies with an ability to continuously learn and apply new technologies.

Demonstrated history of strong job tenure, with a preference for candidates showing 12+ months in previous contract roles and a solid mix of full-time and contract experience.

Ability to work a hybrid schedule consisting of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote per week.

Must reside within a 15-mile radius of the client's office location to accommodate the hybrid work schedule and occasional immediate onsite needs.
