Position Summary The Senior Litigation Paralegal assists attorneys in all phases of the litigation process, from discoverythroughtrial,post-trialproceedings,andappeals.Thispositionindependentlymanages cases while working under the general supervision of attorneys and serves as the lead paralegal on assigned matters from inception through appeal. The Senior Litigation Paralegal may also oversee and coordinate the work of paralegals, project assistants, and other support staff as necessary. Position Responsibilities Adhere to all ethical requirements and standards established by applicable Rules of Professional Conduct. Perform all aspects of litigation case management, including file management, discovery support, and trial preparation activities. Maintain case calendaring systems to track filings, deadlines, and the timely distribution of information. Lead discovery efforts and provide witness preparation support. Manage document collection, organization, review, and production processes for both hard-copy and electronic materials. Collect materials from clients, opposing parties, third parties, experts, and other sources, including electronic data and physical evidence. Maintain chain of custody documentation and coordinate document productions in multiple formats, including native files. Assist with Bates numbering, substantive document indexing, and other discovery-related tasks. Prepare for depositions by conducting database searches, compiling relevant documents, preparing witness files, organizing exhibits, and maintaining deposition transcripts. Assist with the preparation, proofreading, cite-checking, filing, and management of briefs, appeals, and other legal documents, including preparation of appendices, exhibits, and tables of authorities. Prepare for and attend trial proceedings by organizing exhibits, preparing attorney work product, managing deposition designations, coordinating trial logistics, and assisting with direct and cross-examination materials. Manage and maintain litigation support applications, including Relativity, CaseMap, TextMap, and third-party platforms, and recommend efficient technology solutions to attorneys. Apply advanced knowledge of litigation processes, legal procedures, and terminology to support matters from pretrial through appeal. Prepare a variety of legal and case-related documents, including privilege logs, correspondence, client reports, document indices, chronologies, binders, and spreadsheets. Coordinate and oversee the work of junior paralegals and support staff on large litigation matters, investigations, and arbitration proceedings, as needed. Interact professionally with clients, government agencies, expert witnesses, consultants, opposing counsel, court personnel, vendors, and other external parties. Manage relationships with litigation support vendors, including e-discovery providers, court reporters, and trial support specialists. Accurately record billable and non-billable time in accordance with firm policies and procedures. Utilize PACER and other federal and state court e-filing systems in compliance with applicable court rules and procedures. Manage multiple matters and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment while working independently and collaboratively. Foster positive working relationships with attorneys, clients, peers, and support staff. Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive firm and client information. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Experience,skills,and Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. 7+ years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in a large law firm environment required. Demonstrated experience supporting all phases of complex litigation, including discovery, depositions, trial preparation, and appeals required. Must live within a commutable distance to a local office. Experience with federal and state court filing procedures, including electronic filing through PACER. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved institution preferred. Advanced experience with litigation support and e-discovery platforms, including Relativity, CaseMap, TextMap, and similar applications. Experience supervising or coordinating the work of junior paralegals or support staff. Trial attendance and trial support experience in complex litigation matters. Strong knowledge of legal principles, litigation procedures, and best practices. Exceptional organizational, project management, and time management skills with the ability to manage large volumes of information and documentation. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, iManage, and litigation support technologies. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team while demonstrating leadership when appropriate. Salary New York applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $120,000-$148,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
