Location: Nashville, TN (Local candidates preferred) Commitment: 1-2 years with opportunity to renew,approximately 8-10hours per month Reports To: Board of Directors Status: Volunteer, governance role About From Your Father From Your Father exists to provide God’s love to fatherless children and single mothers in Middle Tennessee through tangible support, community connection, and transformative experiences. We serve families navigating poverty, instability, and isolation by meeting both practical and emotional needs with dignity, consistency, and care. We are entering a pivotal season of growth and organizational strengthening and are seeking an experienced Board President to help steward the organization through this next chapter with clarity, wisdom, and steady leadership. Role Overview The Board President provides strategic leadership to the Board of Directors while supporting the Executive Director during a season of organizational strengthening. This role focuses on governance, board effectiveness, leadership alignment, and external credibility. The Board President also supports the organization in strengthening its operational foundation by encouraging sustainable funding practices and by helping foster meaningful connections that allow the mission to grow with integrity, stability, and excellence. Someone who brings lived experience or personal understanding of single-parent households or father absence, either through upbringing, family experience, or long-term relational proximity, and values how this perspective informs compassionate, grounded leadership. Key Responsibilities Chair board meetings and set clear, focused agendas Foster a healthy board culture marked by accountability, engagement, and trust Guide board members in fulfilling their governance and fiduciary responsibilities Support committee structure, role clarity, and consistent follow-through Ensure board decisions are documented and aligned with organizational bylaws and policies Executive Director Support Serve as a thought partner and sounding board to the Executive Director Helpmaintainhealthy boundaries between governance and day-to-day operations Support leadership sustainability during a season of growth and capacity building Strategic & Organizational Stewardship Help the board remain focused on mission, vision, and long-term impact Support high-level decision-making related to growth, systems, and organizational capacity Strengthen board confidence, clarity, and overall effectiveness Organizational Sustainability & Relationship Building Partner with the Board and Executive Director to support long-term operational sustainability Encourage a culture of shared responsibility around funding the mission Support strategic conversations related to unrestricted and operational support Be willing to make thoughtful connections to potential donors, partners, and community leaders when aligned and appropriate Leverage relationships, insight, and credibility to help open doors and build trust Promote best practices that position the organization for healthy, values-driven growth External Representation Serve as a credible ambassador for the organization within the community Support relationship-building with donors, partners, and community leaders when appropriate Ideal Candidate Profile We are seeking someone who: Has prior nonprofit board experience, ideally as a Board President or Officer Is based in orclosely connectedto the Nashville area Brings strong leadership, communication, and facilitation skills Understands nonprofit governance, fiduciary responsibility, and board dynamics Iswilling and comfortable making connections that support the organization’s mission and sustainability in a relational, values-aligned way Is mission-driven and aligned with faith-based service and community impact Is calm, steady, and solutions-oriented during seasons of growth or transition Why This Role Matters This role will help: Strengthen board leadership and governance effectiveness Support the long-term sustainability of the organization Ensure families continue receiving consistent, high-quality support Position the organization well for future leadership and growth Term & Transition This role is intended as a defined-term leadership position of 12 months, with the opportunity to renew. The Board President may also help support leadership continuity and succession planning as needed.
