About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour PM-AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of recent equivalent experience License: RN License or Compact License (Proof of State Residency Required) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Experience in managing chest tubes - Experience with various drips such as Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone - Familiarity with lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients - Experience with trachs and laryngectomies - Knowledge of telemetry - Experience with complex wounds - Proficient in care and maintenance of central lines, including blood draws Description: This is a fast-paced inpatient surgical unit that primarily cares for trauma and acute care surgical patients. The unit includes negative pressure rooms suitable for specific patient populations. The team prioritizes rehabilitating and supporting patient needs. Common diagnoses include spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic injuries, and acute care surgical procedures such as hernia repair and appendectomy. The patient-to-nurse ratio is approximately 1:4 during the day and 1:5 at night. Travelers should have experience in a busy medical surgical unit, preferably with Level I Trauma center exposure. Common patient demographics include adults requiring surgical care.
