Job Title Outpatient Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health Urgent Care - Talbot Department Harding | Harding Behavioral Health Urgent Care Position Summary The BHUC‑Talbot Nurse is responsible to be the primary responder to manage the triage/intake of patients in the BHUC‑Talbot walk‑in clinic, as well as incoming BHUC‑Talbot clinic phone calls. After triage or phone call, the nurse will determine if the patient is clinically appropriate for BHUC‑Talbot or needs higher level of care, and then assists and/or directs the patient to that level of care. The nurse conducts a focused triage assessment, noting signs that may indicate mental health, substance use, or both, and prioritizing the patient’s immediate safety and medical needs. In addition to providing brief mental health and substance use disorder triage to walk‑in patients and managing incoming clinic phone calls, the nurse will obtain patient vitals, administer breathalyzer when indicated, provide comfort care for patients experiencing withdrawal, resolve prescription and pharmacy issues, return phone messages the same day, administer medication‑assisted treatment and long‑acting injectable MAT or psychiatric medications when prescribed by BHUC physicians or advanced practice providers, assist with obtaining and/or forwarding lab results and urine drug screens, provide education to patients regarding medications and side effects, respond to messages sent by patients in MyChart, and support other patient needs as requested by clinic staff. Responsibilities Primary responder for triage/intake of walk‑in patients and inbound clinic phone calls. Determine appropriate level of care and direct patients accordingly. Perform focused triage assessments and prioritize patient safety. Obtain vitals, administer breathalyzer and provide comfort care for withdrawal. Resolve prescription and pharmacy issues, return phone messages promptly. Administer MAT, long‑acting injectable MAT, and psychiatric medications as ordered. Assist with lab and urine drug screen results and provide medication education. Respond to patient messages in MyChart and assist clinic staff with patient needs. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 2 years experience as a psychiatric RN is required; BSN preferred. Location East Hospital - Talbot Hall (0399) Shifts / Hours Monday‑Friday, 10:30 am‑7:00 pm; 40 scheduled hours per week; Second Shift. Position Type Regular Background Check / Drug Screening Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
